Digital technologies are an essential part of modern education and everyday life. However, excessive and uncontrolled digital use is increasingly affecting young people’s attention, creativity, and well-being.
DBYY – Journey From Digital Addiction to Creativity is an Erasmus+ Small-Scale Partnership project that helps schools transform digital dependency into creative and conscious digital engagement.
This digital addiction education project is designed to help schools address excessive technology use and promote digital wellbeing among young people. Through international collaboration, innovative teaching methods, and practical educational resources, the project supports teachers, students, and families in developing healthier digital habits and stronger creative thinking skills.
What the Project is About
Digital addiction has become one of the most significant challenges for modern education systems. Many students spend hours consuming digital content without developing productive digital skills or creative thinking.
The DBYY project addresses this issue by helping school communities shift from passive digital consumption to active digital creativity.
Through cooperation between educational institutions from Türkiye, Greece, and Italy, the project develops innovative learning activities, teacher training, and practical materials that encourage students to use digital tools responsibly and creatively.
The Challenge
Studies and surveys conducted among partner schools revealed that digital addiction significantly affects students’ learning processes and creative thinking abilities.
Excessive use of digital devices often results in:
• reduced attention span • lower academic performance • sleep disruption • decreased creativity • difficulties in social interaction
In addition, teachers often lack practical pedagogical tools to address digital addiction in classrooms, while parents struggle to guide their children toward balanced digital habits.
The DBYY project provides educational tools, training, and guidance resources to address these challenges.
Project Purpose
The main goal of the DBYY project is to support the digital transformation of education by encouraging participants to use digital tools consciously, productively, and creatively.
The project aims to:
• strengthen teachers’ digital pedagogical competencies • support students in becoming creative digital producers • increase parents’ awareness about digital addiction • promote international cooperation and exchange of best practices • develop sustainable educational resources for schools
These objectives contribute directly to the Erasmus+ priority of digital transformation in education.
